About John

My influences have always been illustrators, from Norman Rockwell and N. C. Wyeth to Bernie Fuchs and Mark English. I couldn’t imagine a more interesting career than creating pictures for a living.

I earned an associate degree from Madison Area Technical College in what was then called Commercial Art, which was followed by a bachelor’s degree in Advertising Illustration from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. I then achieved my master’s degree in Illustration from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. That training has allowed me to work for more than thirty-five years as an illustrator and designer.

Since 1988, it has been my privilege to teach at Madison College and to influence new generations of Norman Rockwells.
