About Gretchen

Self-proclaimed dog’s best friend, lover of anything green and coffee snob. I go “ga-ga” for creative problem-solving, a good brainstorming session or a challenging photo shoot. (yep, I’ve worked with kids and dogs—and between you and me—sometimes the adults are trickier).

A graduate of Madison College, for the last twenty five years I have worked for corporations and advertising agencies—both large and small—managing, designing, and producing marketing materials including print, outdoor, packaging, radio and television. My work has ranged from food and financial to insurance, healthcare and biotech, and includes both B-to-B and consumer. Today I am privileged to be both a partner and graphic designer at Firepower Design.

In my spare time I love to travel, mentor teens and use my designs skills to give back by volunteering with groups such as Aids Network, Spring Green Arts Coalition and local school & community groups in my hometown of Spring Green. What’s the best part of being an instructor at Madison College? The students. It is amazing to see where they start that first semester of the program and how much they have grown by the time the portfolio show rolls around. I hope that my students get as much out of my teaching as I get from them. The best part of being a designer? Coloring outside the lines!
