About Carol

In my late twenties I returned to school to pursue my passion for art with an Associate Degree in Applied Arts and a career began. My professional experiences range from in-house design agencies to product development  as well as a host of freelance clients. I’ve worked on projects including catalogue design, branding, packaging, ad campaigns, trade show materials, newsletters, and book development for companies such as The Douglas Stewart Company, Adobe, 3M, Brio, Culver’s and American Girl (Mattel).

At American Girl I managed a team of eight in product development from drawings into viable products in both hard and soft-goods across two continents, from technical drawings to product samples and press checks, thousands of brand enthusiasts grew-up with our work. Through this experience I learned many manufacturing and printing processes as well as customs and cultures.

One of the most inspiring parts of teaching is seeing the variety and creativity students bring to each project. In my free time I enjoy screen printing, photography and drawing plus a fascination with textures and type. I also donate design time to non-profits such as the American Red Cross and the Habitat ReStore.

Education: BS University of Wisconsin La Crosse and AA Madison Area Technical College
