About Beth

I graduated from Madison College with an Associate Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration just about 10 years ago. It’s a degree that has taken me to so many exciting places and inspired my work as a professional designer. In 2011, when I was invited to return to Madison and be part of this wonderful team of people at our college, I was extremely honored and thrilled. Here is a little about me:

I’ve loved art since I was a kid. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from the UW Madison and then went on to get an Associate Degree in Graphic Design & Illustration from Madison College. I’ve also taken classes on letterpress design & printing at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle and screen printing classes at the Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis. I worked as a graphic designer in Minneapolis, Seattle and Milwaukee, at both small and large firms (Design Guys, Hornall Anderson, Marx McClellan Thrun and Becker Design). My work has been featured on thedieline.com (a packaging blog) and in design publications such as PRINT, Communication Arts and HOW magazine. Previous clients include Target, Sears, Pepsi, ToysRUs, Starbucks, Labor Ready, Kohl’s, Tahitian Noni, Clorox, Redhook Brewing, Widmer Brewing, Emily’s, Wrigley’s, Nennah Paper and Eames Office.

Print design (stationery, packaging, posters, books, wedding & baby announcements… anything that you can hold in your hands) has been my primary focus as a designer. My favorite projects to work on leave you feeling happier than before you encountered them. Smart concepts, good branding, great typography, sustainable design, letterpress printing, package design, illustration, pattern design and design for the greater good continue to be areas of interest for me. When not at school, I’m keeping current with my design blog addiction, Design Madison & AIGA events and more magazines than one person should be allowed to have. I am devoted to the following things: my family and friends, sewing & crafting, home improving, gardening, cooking, canning and adventures outdoors. And of course, my students. Hope to see you in a class!
