Dance Light Lens Show

Madison College Gallery, November 1 – 24

“Beauty and grace, strength and precision, an expression of aliveness are all words that can describe the art of dance. When combined with the art of photography, the results can be inspiring. But to convey these qualities in a still image presents challenges to both the photographer and dancer. To succeed, both must bring to this project the results of many hours of training. For the photographer this includes a strong technical understanding of the craft. Camera handling, lighting skills and timing are all tested here.

The images displayed here are the result of this collaborative project. Madison College Photography students are teamed with dance students from a variety of schools including the UW Dance Department. The project happens every April, the final semester of our students’ two-year curriculum. This collection is a retrospective of the last several years of the project. This April will be our tenth collaboration.”
